Mallorca is one of the most attractive places for walking and hiking, offering an endless variety of terrain: treks on ridges; dry stone paths; treks to snow houses and charcoal burners; excursions in forests, beside torrents and a range of incredible landscapes, almost always within sight of a vivid blue sea. One of our favourites is Soller to Deia, taking about three hours. After the initial uphill 20 minutes, it’s an easy walk and you can get the bus back.

A great way to get to know the area is to explore the Port and the Muleta headland. You’re never far from the sea nor its handsome lighthouse.

Finally, you can’t miss the delightful walk to picture-perfect Fornalutx, which clings to the mountainside overlooking the lush Soller valley of orange groves.

Below is a list of some outstanding walks. For each, we’ve tried to grade them as easy, moderate and difficult. Remember, though, it is highly recommended that even for the Easy walks, you take plenty of water (you may not find any springs on some of the walks), check the weather forecast before setting out and dress adequately. Each walk page is accompanied by a link to a google map, and (in the gallery at the bottom)  by a gradient chart, a map and a 3D map. We also have GPX files which we can send to you. These can be downloaded to your GPS or mobile device, giving lots of details and maps. Just ask.

Easy means a well-trodden, well-signposted path, rarely far from civilization, no major steep hills, and usually a maximum of 3 hours. They can be tackled year round

Moderate walks are generally a little longer. They may also be a little off the beaten track. Where clear trails and  signposting fail, you may have to use a little intuition or backtrack a bit. They may take you through private property — rarely a problem as long as you are respectful and close gates after you. They may include stretches of more strenuous walking. And should not be attempted in bad weather.

Difficult, while generally safe and always rewarding, means long and arduous, with uphill slogs often along vertigo-inducing drops. You may have to use your hands to scramble up rocks and there will at times be no clearly signposted path. They are often at high altitude, so please check for the possibility of inclement weather. Take plenty of water-You can reach the charming hill town of Fornalutx, via the hamlet of Biniaraix in less than an hour.

Tramuntana Tours is a Soller-based company dedicated to offering visitors a variety of ways to discover the spectacular surroundings, offering walking, mountain biking, kayaking, canyoning and fishing excursions as well as a boat charter service.
