If you plan on using public transport, getting here is easy enough if you land in Palma before 8pm. Otherwise you will probably need to take a taxi or rent a car.

Below you have details on getting here by car, by train and by bus, and by taxi. Just scroll down till you find what suits you best

BY CAR

NOTE: We strongly recommend that you DO NOT use GPS after the Soller tunnel and for finding our house in Sóller. It is unreliable, will send you to the wrong street, and does not accurately reflect the one-way traffic system. Please refer to our map below.

First, if you need to rent a car, we recommend this link.

There is a link (below) to a google map with directions from the Soller tunnel to our house. The address is Calle or Carrer (Street) Canals 1. You can pull in here for a short while (outside a small health food shop), unload your bags and then we’ll find you a more permanent parking place.

There are three car parks nearby, free from 8pm till 9am, free after lunch on Saturday and all day Sunday. It costs a maximum of 6 euros for a whole day, or 90 cents an hour. There is even a parking area 10 metres from the house opposite the taxi rank but these are coveted spots and you have to be lucky to find one. The alternative is to park on the main road, between 8 and 10 minutes away, where it is legal and free all the time

But first, to get to the Soller road if coming from the airport:

Leaving the airport take the PALMA direction. After a few minutes, forget all about Palma, and take the ANDRATX direction. Now you will be on the RING ROAD (Via Cintura MA-20).

Continue for 3 to 5 minutes till you see the SOLLER exit – Exit 5A (don’t go to Andratx!).

Then it is straight all the way to the Soller tunnel. The tunnel is now FREE. Going over the mountain is a scenic alternative, but the road has 60 switchback bends and this will add 25 minutes to your journey time.

AFTER YOU EMERGE FROM THE TUNNEL…

NOTE: We strongly recommend that you DO NOT use GPS after the Soller tunnel and for finding our house in Sóller. It is unreliable, will send you to the wrong street, and does not accurately reflect the one-way traffic system.

Five minutes after you come out of the tunnel you reach a roundabout on the edge of town. Go RIGHT. A sign says EXCEPTE VEINS (except for neighbours) but as a renter, you are legally allowed come down this street. This is Isabel II and is the main road into town.  10 metres before the street comes to an end, slow down and stop your car (after Number 6) where there is a very small street to the left and a health food shop, also on the left. See picture below:

Carrer d Isabel II 8 Google Maps

This is where you should start slowing down. Canals is the little street you can see to the left, just ahead. (The reddish and ochre house to the left in the picture is where you will be staying but check-in is around the corner in Canals).

This is our street and we are the big house  on the corner (Canals 1). See picture below. (Don’t worry the sheep won’t be there in the way when you come!)

It’s not really that complicated as you will be following the “natural” flow of traffic. My phone is (+34) 607 422 275 if you get lost. We’ll be here awaiting your arrival.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Getting here is easy enough if you land in Palma before 8 pm. At the airport take the Number A1 bus (every 15 minutes) to Palma (pay on board, EUR 5.00 each, 20 min ride). Get off the bus in the Plaça Espanya / Plaza España.

There you have two options.

TRAIN

If you have time and money,  would recommend the old wooden train: it’s a very beautiful 1-hour trip over the mountains. The Ferrocarril de Soller station is in the Plaza España (be careful: there are two train stations beside each other: a modern underground one and the old Soller one). It costs an eye-watering 18 euros each (25 Return)!

Here is the timetable:

BUS

The alternative is the bus  It is in the underground transport station in Plaza España (Estacio Intermodal).

It’s cheaper than the train and takes just 30 minutes but it is less spectacular. The bus number is 204 (it says Expres or Tunel on it). Careful not to take the number 203, which also goes to Soller, but via Valldemossa and Deia. It takes an hour but is very scenic as it runs along the coast.

IMPORTANT: You pay the driver but it’s much cheaper if yu just swipe any bank card (Visa, MasterCard or Maestro). Just remember to swioe gain when getting off.  The cash price is 4.50, while it’s 2.70 by card. What’s more, if you are with other people, USE THE SAME CARD for everybody in your group. A discount kicks in each time and you’ll be travelling by free in no time!

Here is the webpage for bus times (click on the link Current Times):

If you take the train, our house is about 30 seconds walking from the station. The bus stop in Soller (careful – don’t stay on the bus to Port Soller!) is a ten minute walk to our house. So again, I recommend the train if you have the money.

Total cost each from airport: bus + bus 7.70 euros each

Total cost each from airport: bus + train 23 euros each

Here is a map from the bus stop to the house (or click on link below)

You can also see on the map the train station more or less (where the letters El Guia are written), really just 30 seconds from house. (Ferrocarril de Soller).

BY TAXI:

A taxi will cost around 45-50 euros.

Just walk oit of the aitport and you’ll be directe to one. No need to book a transfer company.

If you’re going to get a taxi each way, that is, you wish to return from Sóller to the airport at a specific hour (or very early), you could book both ways ahead of your arrival. It will take the stress out of trying to catch a taxi early morning in Sóller and in danger of missing your flight.
